Anti-Wrinkle Botulinum Toxin Consent Form

What is Botulinum Toxin and how does it work?

Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It prevents the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is the substance responsible for transmitting electrical impulses that illicit muscle contraction.

Injecting Botulinum Toxin into effected areas can temporarily paralyse the underlying muscles responsible for the wrinkles/lines, giving the face a more relaxed and smooth appearance.

When will I see the effects of the treatment?

Initial effects may become visible within 48 to 72 hours after treatment but the maximum effect is reached approximately 1 to 2 weeks post treatment but is around 4-6 weeks in masseter botox treatment and neck botox treatment. Treatment generally lasts 4 to 6 months where re treatment will then be required.
